The VCAC Sport Direction gives thanks to all the players and especially the captains of the teams for their cooperation and participation.

On Saturday, July 20th, under a beautiful sunny day, the 3rd Annual VCAC Golf Tournament took place at Silverwing Golf course.

A total of 44 players (11 groups) participated during this friendly tournament, which we hope was enjoyed by every single player. I want to thank all the participants for their commitment and exemplary behavior for and during the tournament.

We had 5 ladies, 38 men and one pre-teen (Fernandito Gomez) whom took a last minute player’s place due to injury and helped maintain the 44th spot filled!

We tee-ed off at noon from two different 9 hole courses. And during 5 hours of play there were cheers and high fives all around the golf course. All the groups and individual players were attempting to wind the longest drive, get closer to the pin and sink the longest putt in a chance to compete for individual prizes or simply help his or her team by scoring a low round.

At 6 pm we had our dinner served at the events center and had the pleasure of some golfer’s families joining us during the last stretch of the day.

Every single player took home a participant prize! We also gave away prizes for individual achievements (three ladies and three men) and four teams (16 players) were rewarded with 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a Consolation Prize.

After the BBQ dinner, we proceeded to give the individual achievement prizes to the following players:

Ricardo Tovar (Men Longest Drive)
Jose “Yoyo” Garcia (Men Closest to the Pin)
Alejandro “Pachi” Portillo (Men Longest Putt)
Gabriela Kuppe (Ladies Longest Drive)
Iride Cuello (Ladies Closest to the Pin)
Josefina Scott (Ladies Longest Putt)
The teams awarded were:

First Place with a score of -5:

Second Place with a score of -4:

Third Place with a score of -3:

Iride Cuello
Consolation Prize with a score of +5:

At the closure of the event we had a raffle for prizes donated by our sponsors. This was the time where all the collected funds will go to Children’s Cottage Society and VCAC’s Scholarship fund. In total $600 was collected. Thanks to all the players and families that bought tickets for these wonderful causes.

The VCAC board of directors wants to recognize that the success of the VCAC 2013 Golf Tournament was due to the excellent effort made by Fabio Gutierrez, our Sport Director Enzo Peluso, and all the volunteers that helped during the day of the event.

Finally, we recognized that the prizes obtained for the participants were only possible due to the sponsorship of the following companies:
